At one time, the English whip making industry produced the finest whips in the world. Many people still feel that the work of the best Victorian whip makers has never been surpassed. In their heyday, there were possibly no more than ten makers producing very high quality whips; and today, the professional British whip maker has almost become a thing of the past. Those companies that survived the 20th Century make mass produced equestrian whips and - whilst one or two craftsmen still make very nice hunting and driving whips - I think it is correct to say that I am the only full time whip maker working in the UK who specialises in producing hand-crafted crack-able whips such as bull whips, snake whips and signal whips.

English Whips is the successor to The Whip Store, which was the first British business to offer a range of high quality bullwhips, signal whips, snake whips and stock whips from a selection of the best Australian and American whip makers. I still offer beautifully crafted items and excellent beginners' whips from the best overseas whip makers. I'm extremely selective in what I offer: as well as making whips, I collect them and use them. I have used hundreds of whips from many of the better known whip makers worldwide, and will not supply whips from anyone unless I have seen their quality over a period of years, and can offer them to you at a fair price. I will never offer a whip for sale if I wouldn't be happy to add it to my own collection.

I make a wide range of quality leather whips and associated items, including kangaroo bullwhips, signal whips, snake whips and stock whips. In addition, I make unusual items for collectors, and particularly enjoy designing new whips - either as custom commissions or as unique collectables. My designs include: cat o' nine tails, crops, flails, floggers and quirts. I try to ensure that every whip I make is distinctive and a little bit different from others that are out there, both out of pride in my craft and to provide pride for the owner. I have an interest in the history of whip design, and this is often reflected in my more unusual creations. I also offer a repair and maintenance service.
