I
specialise in the highest quality crack-able whips: bull
whips, signal whips
(or singletails), snake whips, and stock whips.
The links above take you to pages where you can
view samples of my work, and some of the Australian whips I import, prior to placing an order for a whip made especially
for you. You can email me from those
pages to place a provisional order or discuss your
needs. A 50% deposit will confirm the order once we
have agreed a final design; or, if the facility is
available on the page, you can select your whip
from a drop down list; and pay for it straight away. Australian
whips usually take about 8-12 weeks to arrive.
Health problems and a long waiting list mean that I am
not, at the present time, taking orders for my own whips although,
from time to time, you will see 'off the peg' ones for sale
lower down this page.
Scroll down
to
see what whips I have in stock at the moment.
I prioritise customer orders over making whips for
stock, so I don't have many whips in stock at any one time - at busy
times, I may have none. But if
you keep checking back, you'll find all kinds of different things
appearing over time.
If
you'd like some advice prior to placing an order, please feel free to

Second
Hand Australian Kangaroo Hide 16 Plait Bullwhip:
With 20 plait handle, the name 'Dave' plaited in (although
it's not necessarily that obvious). Six foot (exc. fall and
cracker).
This whip was made
for me by
Australian whip maker, Scott Martin. It is a fantastic
target whip: easy to crack and very well behaved. It is
about eight years old, so completely broken-in, but with
many years life left in it. Necessity forces the sale:
this is a whip that I would happily own for many more
years.
Scott
does not appear to be making whips any more. I was the only
person to be importing his roo hide whips into the UK for sale. This was the only
one I saw with a 20 plait handle; and one of only about half
a dozen in this red and black pattern (the red has become
more brown over time). So, not only is it a very high
quality whip; it's also a real collector's item. I have seen
prettier whips but prettiness does not always translate into
quality; and vice versa: in my opinion, I have never thrown
a better six foot bullwhip!
Like all good bullwhips, it
features a double plaited belly. Scott's roo hide bullwhips
were, however, different to other whip makers' because he
used a pickled cowhide core - immensely durable - threaded
through a hollow metal foundation. Unlike the vast majority
of modern bullwhips, this means that the core of the whip
can never separate from the handle. It makes for a very long
lived, responsive bullwhip.
