non-cracking alternative to short single tails; these
whips will please Western re-enactors looking for high
quality authentic-looking Western quirts, as well as
anyone looking for a well made, compact, flexible whip.

Texas Style Kangaroo
Hide Quirt: A traditional design that will be familiar to
many. Note that there is no wrist
loop on any of my quirts because I do not intend these whips for
equestrian use!
Plaited
from the lash loop, with no strands dropped.
These whips can be finished with
a soft slit-braided cowhide double lash as standard; or a tapered
doubled lash made from thicker hide.
These are heavier whips than the Classic Quirts (below), and slightly wider
throughout their length.

Classic Quirt: This
is the original roo hide quirt that I produced. These are either 12 or
16 plait at the butt and 6 or 8 at the
point.
These are slim, light whips,
that are more in keeping with historical designs than many of the
heavier, wider quirts produced today.
Using a similar construction to many snake and signal whips, these are attractive looking
little whips that are both responsive and durable. The small
knot and slim thong will be comfortable in smaller hands; and the
point is protected with a decorative herringbone knot. Once
broken in, these whips are small enough to fit in a (large- ish)
pocket.
A wide range of tails can be
added to the end; and the lash loop enables easy changing by the
owner.
The price includes one set. Typically, customers opt for a
wide, greased and doubled soft cowhide tail; a traditional narrow
single or double lash; or the 8 roo hide tails pictured here. If you would like something different,
or more than one lash set, just let me know. Each additional set
typically adds £5 - £10 to the price of the whip.

Add a plaited hanging loop: The
best way to store your whip is to hang it up. A braided hanging
loop is the best way to do this.
